If you are a fan of the NBA, you may have seen the video that NFL HOF’er Shannon Sharpe made — his review of Kountry Kitchen — authentic, mouth-watering Soul Food in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Any time I’m over in INDY I have to stop by @Kountrykitchen 😮💨🍖 I might not make it to the game tomorrow 🤣 pic.twitter.com/uJBmWIB3ky

“Ok what we have here is a combo,” says Shannon. “I got chicken wings, fried catfish, yams, collard greens, mac & cheese, cornbread; these are braised ox tails, and these are neck bones. And so normally that’s what I do. Anytime I’m in Indy I always come see my girl at Kountry Kitchen. The food is amazing. So if you’re ever in Indy, come to Kountry Kitchen ask for Cynthia, and tell ’em Chef sent you.”
The video makes me want to book a plane to Indy just to eat at Kountry Kitchen.
The NBA team on TNT — Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson have also recommended it — here is a video of Ernie Johnson shouting out the food and service he had there from owners Isaac and Cynthia Wilson, and server Robert:

National Reputation as Top Soul Food Restaurant
Kountry Kitchen was established in 1988 by Isaac Wilson’s late first wife, Rosie Nell Wilson.
As you can see from the videos, its menu features Southern-style dishes like catfish, pork chops, fried chicken wings and freshly prepared vegetables.
The restaurant has a national reputation in soul-food circles and is often a must-stop for politicians, entertainers and athletes — like Shannon Sharpe and the NBA TNT team (now on ESPN) above.
Where Located
Their address is 1831 N College Ave in Indianapolis — in the center of the city — at the southeast corner of College Avenue and 19th Street in the city’s Kennedy-King neighborhood — a 10-minute walk from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The Building
In January, 2020 the restaurant was actually destroyed by a fire — and re-built on the same location — but bigger and better than ever.
